I just got a new pci diamond modem v92 56k. But unfortunately it seems that things have gone wrong somehow. I do it as the manual says. But yet the device doesnt want to work, it says in the device manager "the ntkern.vxd device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver (code 2)" It goes on to say to update the driver. I dont really know what else to do, ive been all across the web, trying to figure it out posted at multiple sites sent a letter to diamond, but nothing substantial. Im using an old dell dimension xps pro 200n with pentium pro running at 200mhz 64 megs of ram. I just upgraded from win 95 to windows 98se. It seems that the only thing left for me to do is to format hard drive and reinstall windows. Any help is muchly appreciated.
I don't know if this is of any help, but I've got a feeling you have installed the wrong driver - the ntkern.vxd device loader is usually associated with USB devices. Try re-installing the driver but point it to one of the other folders on the installation CD - physically look at the modem to see what sort of chip it has - Rockwell, Conexant, Intel or whatever and choose that folder.
