My computer has suddenly gone haywire. It does not allow me to change the settings to more than 256 colours but before it allowed me to 16 high colour mode. I've tried re-installing the display drivers but nothing works. My monitor is an ICL (old model) and I'm running windows 95. The adapter is a Cirrus logic although I've tried the standard VGA drivers. Help please .very stressed.

It is hard to answer that question without more information. First your monitor does not have anything to do with what color depth you can set your desktop. It is dependent on your video card. So if you can nolonger run a previously used color depth the problem is with the video drivers, and or the Operating System itself.

You said your computer just went haywire, what caused that? You should work backwards and try to figure out what caused your computer to tweak out. Did you install new software or hardware etc? Did you make any changes to your OS?
