My son received Robot Warts Arenas of Destruction PC CD-Rom for Xmas. The system requirements are Window 98, ME, Pentium 350MHz processor, 64mb ram, 8 xCD-Rom, 16bith sound card, 8mb 3d graphic card (capable ofr uning direct x8.0a). I have been unable to run this game on my PC. I am running a Windows 98 (version 4.10.001720) OEM Intel Penium II, MMX350MHz, 64mb ram. The driver is an ATI3DRage Proce device, with 8.0mb memory. I have downloaded microsoft's directx8.1 driver but when I run the test direct 3d. Directx7 interfaces are okay but I receive an error on Directx8 as follows: Failure at Step5(GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3d not available). What do I need to resolve this problem and where can I get the software?

I had exactly the same answer "failure step5" on the DirX8 test on my system.
(AMD 1G4 / GE Force2MX / WinME / 386M RAM).

Reinstalling latest graphics drivers did not
solve this.

Sorry got no clue (only same problem ;-)

Good luck
François

Maybe this will help, found on the NET:

Go go to display and disable those 3 things in the bottom left: DirectDraw acceleration, D3D acceleration and AGP texture acceleration. Then re-enable them, should work just fine.
