Subject: DirectX Error nvdisp.drv not signed
OS: Windows 98 SE {4.10, Buil
CPU/Ram: AMD K-6 400Mhz/184 MB RAM
Comment:

One game I particularly crash in is Delta Force. I contacted Novalogic about it and they gave me a little technical advice to check and see if nvdisp.drv was digitally signed by MS, but infact it wasn't. I was then directed to get it signed by my Video Card Manufacturer (Visiontek) but their tech support really sucks so I was unable to. I have a Geforce 2 MX 400 PCI 64MB RAM. I was hoping someone could help me be it providing tech support or giving me a nvdisp.drv thats signed. ANYTHING WOULD HELP!! Thanks a lot!!

Hi Soon2BMarine.

A digitally signed driver only means that MS tested it and gave it an OK. It doesn't mean that a driver that is not signed won't work, only that MS hasn't gotten around to testing it yet.

Go to the Nvidia site and try their newest driver which was released 12-3-02. Your Visiontek uses the Nvidia chip.

If that doesn't help, go to this page on the same site and try any of the older Nvidia drivers until you find one that works with your setup.

Some of these drivers are certified and some are pending certification.

Take care,

OK , I was under the impression that it did only because Novalogic said to do that, and nothing else. I have upgraded to the latest version for my video card because of some previous errors I had, it fixed them but it caused the MS sign error. Anyway, why would Novalogic suggest that I get it digitally signed if it doesn't effect the performance?
Thanks,
Ace

Hi Soon2BMarine.

Sometimes the newest driver doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet.

In that case you would try one of the previous drivers.

The 2nd link I gave above has a page of older drivers, some certified (signed) by MS.

So Novalogic is suggesting to try a driver, although older, that has been signed.

Take care,

Linda
