when i run MAX PAYNE (a game) i get the message: MAX PAYNE needs a DirectX 8.0 compatible display adapter to run. Please help me as soon as possible. When I load Max Payne, i click play at the Window that pops up when you first run the maxpayne .exe, and then hit play, then the screen is black, i have sound, just no display...I have the last video card drivers for my Radeon 64 DDR Vivo card, and Direct X 8.0...any Ideas? Thanx in advance Ernie

I downloaded the latest driver for my graphic card and that fixed the problem right up with Max Payne so I'll tell u ppl how I did it. Don't know if it will work for you but its worth a shot. After you have installed DirectX 8.0 which u can find at www.cnet.com under downloads, and you have determined which model your graphic card is (look above at response number 21 to find out how to do that) go to the website of your computer manufacturer to get the latest driver for your graphic card. I myself have a Gateway so I went to gateway.com and searched for the name of my graphic card under the download section and boom! I downloaded and installed the latest driver and I was up and running. So it worked for a Gateway so it might work for other computers as well. Hope that helps!

Hi The basic problem here is the the current refernce drivers for the Voodoo Banshee (1.04) I believe are only DirectX 7 compliant. They can be found on the WWW.VOODOOFILES.COM. I recommend installing them first (from the 3DFX originals area). If still no joy, there are 3rd party drivers (from Xpentor) also available on the same site which claim to be DirectX 8 compatible worth trying, however they did not work on my Guillemt MAxi Gamer Phoenix PCI card.

Make sure you have directx 8.1 installed. Start dxdiag, go to display, disable then enable direct3d. You can then run the test to make sure the directx8 interfaces are working. You're welcome.....
