Comment: Is this printer really compatible with W98? I have the w98 cd here and have installed the appropriate driver but it wont work. When i choose to make a test print it takes the paper and write one word in about one minute. I´ve tried to change all the settings to no help. There is no problem with the printer because it works perfect with windows 95. What should i do now?

Reply: (edit)I repair printers. I think there are 2 drivers for this printer, a 500c color driver and a 500C black ink cartridge driver. If you use the color driver it takes longer to print. For speed I use the plain DJ-500 driver from HP(not the 500C driver). Sometimes the Windows 3.1 or 95 drivers drivers work better/faster than the MS 98 drivers. HP drivers are different than the drivers that come on the MS Windows CD. Generally, I like the HP drivers better. Often I use the HP driver for Windows 95 even when Windows 98se is the operating system
