Dell Inspiron Audio Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720. It came with Vista installed and the Audio was refered to as "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition". After I recieved the notebook and installed Windows XP on another partition I came to installing the sound drivers. This is when I found out that the chipset was actualy an "STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio (Sigmatel)". The Creative part about it was just some software, hence the Software Edition I guess (which the installation disc is for Vista only).
I installed the Dell Windows XP drivers listed for the Inspiron 1720 STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio.
My issue is, I have sound and all but only control over the volume level. Do I realy have to have this Creative software to enable the "HD" features of this chipset? Is there a set of drivers or software that gives me control over the sound like this Creative program does (mixer, bass boost, EAX, etc.)? Or do I have to find out if they have this Creative software for XP and buy it for XP too?
