My cdrw drawer wont open, its not the power or cable/belt cos it opened once yesterday after I updated the driver in device manager. Any help would be appreciated but click by click instructions are needed as not that pc literate. thanks
This is NOT the DRIVE forum (in fact, there is no 'Drive' forum)- General Hardware would be best, but odds are it's FUBAR'd and will need to be replaced.

That website covers most common solutions - other than your (misguided) duplicate post in Win9x, it's not clear what else you've tried. As mentioned there, and in the previous link, "the old paper clip trick" is the way to go, short of disassembly
Repair is a possibility, depending, but I suspect that avenue may be slightly beyond your current skill set (mine too, I'm afraid) but here ya go
"anyone????"
Choice of forum can be important, here at Computing.Net - as mentioned, this is a Hardware question, the driver forum is one of the slo-o-owest. No matter though, there's really not much else to tell you, those two links are your best bets (imo)

Paper clip trick doesnt work. I posted my problem in the 'drivers' forum because when I updated the driver the drawer opened 3 times so assummed that its a driver problem.
I tried to post this problem on windows 95/98 general forum but it wasnt dosplayed - will try again. however as you say I'll probably have to replace it.
Double posting is not encouraged here - your previous attempt was deleted, as will be any others, in all probability
The driver 'connection' exists only in your imagination
I'm not sure what your expectations are, or what you hope to gain from reposting in 9x - the options available to you are repair or replace, there really isn't much else
