some time ago my cdrom drive stopped working and when i try to reconnect it using the add hardware wizard it tells me the drivers are corrupted and/or missing. i was told i need basic windows drivers for this (cdrom.sys, etc) but i'm not sure where to get them. if anyone has any ideas or if you can help please let me know.
thanks

CDROM drivers are built into XP, the drivers you mentioned are for MS-DOS, not much use in XP.

I would surmise you have a hardware not a software issue, have you checked that in BIOS all drives are recognised ?
