hey i recently installed windows 7 on my laptop because it was lagging and reformatting it helped.....i THINK i have all the right drivers installed however my cd/dvd drive is not viewed in my computer and when i put a disk into the drive it just spins and does nothing?!?!?!?! i belive it is because i formatted windows and now run a vista OS but my question is what driver do i need to install for my cd/dvd drive to work? my specs are: Manufacturer: Asustek computer inc. Model: A8j OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional CPU/Ram: 1.729 GHz / 1023 MB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio i don't know what model my drive is and i don't know how to check...i've had this problm for three days now and still no luck in fixing it:( i also installed uniblue driver scanner and it said that i had no driver problems and that they were all up to date...did it not detect my drive because it is not installed? device manager does not show it at all.. i've done the whole upper and lower filter thing in regedit but i didn't have any upper or lower filters:S????i tried the automatic fix from microsoft and it said that "this fix does not apply to your system" any help that you can give is GREATLY appreciated:) thanks OHH i just found out that in the specs given by this site it sais i am running windows xp professional for my OS but i installed windows 7 rcently and in my computer's properties it goes vista OS??? is this because i have two partitions (C and D) they were both running FAT32 until i reformatted my D:/ drive to NTFS and installed windows 7 on that? could there be a conflict in OS? again thanx for contributing:)

mavis007 as i said in my original post the automatic fix from microsoft did not work..it said this fix is not relevant to your system...or something like that....thank you for your post all the same as for first post about that software, i installed it and clicked on the detect and i came up with a whole list of driver names....
