Comment: Can't install any new device drivers...old ones work fine. HP pavillion xf145 Driver for my old HP printer (or ANY printer driver)fails to install...it goes through the motions, but then says driver has failed to install. This is not a new computer and I have install other printers in the past. I have deleted all old printers. I can't install ANY new printers from control pannel!!!! None, Zip, Nadda, etc. Ditto goes for digital camera: I just got a new camera and the driver (to download images to computer) won't install. My old camera still works fine. My USB mouse is working. This seems to be some global device driver installation problem. Only thing I can think of is that I updated BIOS about 6 months ago...I have not been mucking around in registry files or anything like that. "Help me Obi-wan, your my only hope."

Reply: (edit)Try right clicking My Computer/Properties/hardware/device Manager, select the desired hardware, eg: LPT/Printer,right click uninstall. If this should not clean out the drivers you donot want and fix your problem then Restore may be in order. HTH Mathew
