Comment: I'm working on a really old system here and I've got windows 98 first edition loaded on it. I installed the PCI modem card, reboot, and then the card is detected. Next it wants the driver for the HSP56 WDM so I let it search and it finds it on the hard drive and I install it. Then is says that it's installed fine and click Finish. So I click finish and here's where the problems being. After I click finish, another box pops up saying it found a "PCI Communication Device" and wants to install the driver. So I let it search ... the driver isn't on the windows disk, the hard drive, the disk that came with the modem. Nowhere. There's only 1 PCI device installed in the computer and that's the modem which at this point I had assumed already had the driver installed since is found the HSP56 WDM driver. So I look in the device manager and sure enought there's that nasty yellow exclamation point on the modem under "PCI Devices" and also on the "PCI Communication Device" listed under "Other Devices". I'm kinda stuck ... I'm tried just about everything I know. Can someone help please?

Reply: (edit)Try this. Delete any reference to the modem in device manager including other devices (pci communications device).Shut down the computer. Put the modem in another PCI slot.Start the computer and when windows detects it point it to the installation disk that came with your modem.
