Hi all, i hope some one can help. I have recently upgraded from 98 to XP. The software i have on CD for the camera is not for XP so have downloaded the WIA USB driver from the Canon website. All well and good. Now when i install the camera it works fine. it then asks me to restart the computer which i do and when it comes to me pluging in my USB with the camera attached it flags up "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)" and doesnt let me continue. I have gone through my computer with a fine tooth comb and deleted and uninstalled everything to do with Canon and still it flags up with my Code 38. Whats going on!! I have been into Device Manager and all it gives me is that message. Very annoying. Please please help. Thanks. Richard

Hi Richard.

This has to do with scanners but maybe you can get an idea for your situation.
