I assume you have already run ScanDisk and Defrag from your system tools? Windows will"work around" the bad sectors and not place any data there BUT you must keep an eye on them - if the number of bad sectors begins to increase then you ought to replace the hard drive pretty quickly.

Hi
Go to the drive's website and get a utility to diagnose your drive. Bad sectors usually represent the need to replace it if any important files are there. They can be used for a very long time (sometimes ) in less critical applications where it doesn't hurt if the drive crashes.

Yep that is pretty much it, once you have bad sectors they will grow and eventually your drive will not be readable. Less troubles and worries if you replace now rather than later
