So I just took the video card from my old comp and threw it in this one since it only had on board video.

It is an MSI GeForce MX4000 Ti-128
The CD that came with it is scratched and wont install. I tried the toothpaste treatment twice but it didn't work.
Anyway, I tried downloading the correct driver from msi, but it didn't do anything.

The installation goes from 0 to 100% percent in less than a second which wasnt very convincing, and then prompts to restart. After restarting, nothing has changed. Its not recognized in the device manager either.

The other problem, is almost the same ironically. I cant seem to get DirectX 9.0c.
I go to microsoft.com to download it and get the installer. The whole thing is supposed to be 168mb, but the installer downloads something that is 7.9. And of course, after a restart nothing has happened. Dx diagnosis says that I still have version 5.0something.
And even Dx diagnosis shows "n/a" for the video card information, such as Vendor and chip type and whatnot.

So basically... where the hell could I get actual vga drivers, and where the hell could I actually get Direct x?

Yes so.. apparently now, when I do Dxdiag, it says I have 9.0c, but when I look in the dx files tab, the files dates are from 02 and 04 and from the 5.0something version. So, still confused..
