I just inherited an old fujitsu lifebook laptop running on Windows XP. Am really a techno dinosaur so please help me : there's no sound at all on the laptop. It seems that I have the hardware (multimedia audio control) which is not installed because the driver is not installed. I have a driver (Intel AC97 audio controller sigmatel codec) but it's not installed. Everytime I try to install it, a window pops up and tells me that it is unsafe to install because the software is not signed. I don't dare to install just in case the whole laptop conks out on me. Should I trust the driver or is there anywhere I can get a safe driver. How else can I resolve my problem? Thanks!
