I have a Asus V8170DDR/64MB video card (same as a GForce4 MX440) - i hjave tried 7 Different Drivers now) Currently using version 45.23 downloaded directly from asus. I have Direct X 9 installed
Whenever I have the video card drivers enabled, I cannot boot into Full windows. It gets to the XP logo, then I get a blank, black screen. If i disable the video card, I Can get into windows. I am able to get into safe mode. I have also tried the geforce detonator drivers with the same result. The video card works fine when running windows 98. All system updates have been performed for widows XP

Go to for the links you need. Sounds like you have a V8170 Magic card. Look around for utilities and other help on the V8170 page. Lotta stuff there and your fix may just be there too.
