Hello they're :) I didn't particularly know who was the right person to email at your = site regarding technical questions, so I am afraid I chose you from the = list heh :) Feel free to pass the email on to whoever maybe appropriate for the = response, or deal with it yourself, either way the help is greatly = appreciated :) My question relates simply to one line in one particular part of the = Advanced part of NVIDIA driver menu. The part in question is on the AGP SETTINGS part of the advanced menu. I will write a simple copy of the menu to make you quickly identify what = I am talking about, details below........ Capability GPU Chipset = OS Optimal AGP Version 3.0 3.5 = 3.0 3.0 Max AGP Rate 8X 8X = 2X 8X Max Request Que Depth 32 32 32 = 32 Fast Writes yes no = no no Side Band Addressing yes yes yes = yes Now your probably well familiar with this menu entry, as it's the one = were we all can check whether or not our agp is set to whatever we want = it to be at and what its capable of, as far as the new menu setup goes = for the nvidia drivers anyways. My question though is this, as it clearly shows my motherboard and = graphics are capable of agp 8x and I have them setup to do just that, = both in this menu and in my motherboards bios. However in one of the entries in that menu above, specifically the line = MAX AGP RATE, under the entry OS on that line it says 2x. My question is this, what's going on there? Is that hindering my graphics performance? Is it the os which is [win xp pro service pack 1 installed] which is = only capable of agp 2x? In DXDIAG it clearly shows that my system is running at agp 8x, but that = 2x entry in that menu there has me paranoid hehe :) And not being an expert in any of the fields associated with it, I would = just like some clarification on the matter. Obviously I have asked around certain forums including overclockers and = so on, and people have simply told me not to worry, if it says in dxdiag = that my system is running at agp 8x settings then it is and the entry = means nothing. However I would like to know for certain one way or the other. Anyways that's it, once again I would just like to say thanks for your = time in reading and possibly responding to this query of mine. I am having the same problem, except AGP version of the chipset is 3.0, not 3.5. I just bought a geforce fx5900 and it doesn't perform like it should (choppy in games, bad benchmark results). I don't have the AGP menu in the nvidia driver dialog by default, but I can get it by using NVHardpage and it clearly states the MAX AGP RATE under OS is 2X. Hope someone can solve our problem. By the way, where do you see the AGP speed in dxdiag ? I can't find it. Relevant specs : NVidia GeforceFX 5900 L4S8A2 ECS motherboard (supports agp 8x) latest drivers from nvidia
