Comment:

I have a Dell C640 laptop, running WinXP, and an Acer X223W LCD monitor.
In a new installation of WinXP, the auto config correctly adjusts the display for 800x600,
1024x768, and 1600-1200. 1280x 1024, and 1400x1050 are not supported.
no video drivers are available, and in XP, there is no option to install other than default monitor.
When WinXP searches for and finds the display adaptor ‘Mobility Radeon 7500’ and installs it, none of the resolutions display correctly, the display being larger than the monitor boundaries.
The extreme top of task bar is visable, the ‘clock’ on the task bar is off screen to the right. Any program window when maximized, the blue bar on top is off screen at the top, and the minimize, maximize and exit buttons off screen to the right. The display is too large for the LCD screen.
I can find no help on the Dell support site, nor the Acer site.
The strange thing is, in a previous installation, all resolutions were correctly displayed.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
John

Yes, but there was no change instelling the driver. I have however solved the issue. I noted that when the laptop was undocked, the display was correct. When docked, and using the monitor, it was not. Then I noticed that when docked, the notebook lcd was also lit. Toggling 'fn' 'F8' you toggle between notebook, monitor, or both, and when toggled to only monitor, the display corrected itself. Who knows why it was incorrect when toggled to both, in my mind this should not be, but however... Thanks for your help. John
