Just put an Acer CRT Monitor Model 7133S on a Compaq/Presario.

The Compaq/Presario has the following;

Windows 98 SE

Adapter: Standard PCI Graphics Adapter

Driver for the Standard PCI Graphics
Adapter (vga.drv, vmm32.vxd, vdd.vxd)

The driver loaded for the Monitor is the following:

AcerView 7133S

The selection of

Start/Settings/ControlPanel/DISPLAY

Shows that the DISPLAY SETTINGS is stuck on a choice of 2 colors or 16 colors.

Is there a way to get this to allow the selection of more colors (i.e. 256) ????

Visit Compaq's website, download & install the
correct drivers for the display adapter of your presario model.

The Standard PCI Graphics Adapter is the generic Windows adapter.

THANKS for the info-----at Compaq the driver
file for the board in this Presario is:

SP11558.exe

It was downloaded and installed! It works like a champ and several selections for color, etc. are now working.
