Hi There! I have a Compaq conture 400 (laptop or notebook?) (12Mb SDram, 286). I've tried to instal windows95 in MSDOS. What does it means when it gives an error like: - xms driver not installed - not enough highmemory to instal the file
I tried it without himem.sys in the config.sys and again with dos=high, umb
what could have caused this problem? Please help me ASAP!!!

I get the error "An Extended Memory manager Is Already Installed" followed by, on a new line "xms driver not installed" This message is displayed whenever I bring the command line window. Please Help...

i was getting the missing himen.sys error... formatted the hard drive... how it says xms not installed.. high memory area not available and something about line A20 I can not get into the editor.. is that because i formatted the hard drive? I need HELP! asap
