Fist before everyone screams at me, as far as I know it is impossible to "write" cd's from dos with long file names.

But I have succesfully used lfndos along with pkzip to create zip files in dos that preserve the long file names and directory structure.

lfndos.exe is available at http://www.freedos.org/freedos/software/lsmtable.cgi?dir=util

I also maneged to get all the necessary files on a floppy.

Are you saying you cannot write a zipfile containing LFNs to an ISO CD?

If you can, is it an acceptable solution? It would be for me: I'd probably make an HTML index page as the front end.

Get in touch if you'd like a copy of Renamer (6kB) which will make a file listing and restore the LFNs when the files are transferred back to a WIn32 system.

There's also FileCopy from Fujitsu hard drive installation utilities, which will copy LFNs and directory structures, but not to CD :-( It could be useful for setting things up ready for zipping.

Yes you can write a zip file to an image that preserves the LFN

What I'm saying is that there is no need to use a renaming util as the lfndos prog allows me to create a zip file that keeps the long file names aswell as long directory names and the directory structure. You then just create an image of these zip files and write in 16bit. the long file names are recreated when you unzip from the cd
