Write protection error

trying to wipe out a hardrive...when i use fdisk it's got #ffffff" as the volume name. won't let u type in the " ....i used Delpart.exe....let's me delete partions but won't let me save...says drive is write protected....NOTHING I USE LET'S ME KILL THIS DRIVE...anyone have any ideas...no virus either!!

When a drive is like that its time to do it the old fasion way:

Get a large powerful magnet and tought it to the HD and it will erase it all.
or
Get your shot gun out and blow it to bits!.

Go to the IBM site and download WIPE.exe. This is a compressed file, so put in in a directory and decompress it. Then use wipe.com to erase everything on the hard drive after which you FDISK over even though some of the old logical drives may appear to be present.

I should add one more thing. On a SCSI drive there is often a write protect jumper. If a SCSI drive really is write protected, you would need to take the jumper off.
