Windows 98 CD from a different computer

I have an old computer with Windows 95. I bought a new computer with Windows 98. Can I use the Win 98 CD that came with the new computer, to install Win 98 on the old computer? I tried, but I get an error message that says "Your computer already has an operating system".

The cd that came with your new computer was probably an image cd that they send out with all model specific computers. I wouldnt try puting it on your old computer you may add extra drivers and apps that your computer may not need or want. you could end up with major glitches. However if you really wanted to you could reformat your old hard drive and start new with that cd. But i would stick with 95.

You are only licensed to use that win98 cd on the new computer you purchased.Using it on another computer is against the licensing agreement that came with the software and is illegal..

the cd that comes with a new computer is a OEM not a upgrade. Can't be used to upgrade. Generally win98 will run poorly on a old computer if at all. Stay with 95
