What to do if FDISK hang up

Every time i goes into fdisk it hangs up.Can someone tel me why.And what to do .thanks for all answers

Are you running fdisk from a boot disk?

The reason to use a boot disk is that a boot sector virus will cause the symtoms you are describing loleck.

Bootdisk.com has a good choice to choice from.

When FDISK hangs it usually means the drive surface is bad.

When fdisk hangs up it means it cannot read the information from MBR. Nothing more. You need to find hard drive utility that will zero the hard drive and in most cases that will be enough. Of course after that you need to recreated mbr, partitions etc.
