Most of the time the recommendation given is to download a bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com as it should contain the cdrom driver files.

However, the files you need to install a cdrom are mscdex.exe found in the dos directory, and the cdrom driver files that you will have to add to your bootdisk.

The syntax for an ide cdrom drive on a bootdisk is

in the autoexec.bat file

A:\dos\mscdex /d:yyyy

in the config.sys file

device=A:\cdrom\xxxxx.sys /d:yyyy (x is driver name)

yyyy has to be the exact same thing in both files

For a scsi cdrom, add the aspi manager first in the config.sys
device=A:\scsi\aspimanager.sys
