Reply: (edit)For low sound volume: things to check include that the speakers are connected into the correct output. I have seen some cards that have a lineout jack and a speaker jack, and some that have a single jack for both with an internal switch or jumper. (You'd have to consult your sound card's instructions for this.) Also, be sure you have amplified speakers. If you are sure that the hardware is connected properly, see if there is a DOS setup utility that will allow you to set the sound in dos, and you could have your autoexec.bat file call this utility. For example, I have one sound card sith a dos utility called dosmixer.exe, and another one with one called essvol.exe. Yours should have something similar.

Reply: (edit)The dos drivers are installed OK, the mode sbpro in dos is ok, setblaster ok, for all programs are ok, but the sound is not present... and in bundle is not present any tools for volume balance, only the drivers. I'm repeat: the soundcard is a chip integrated into mainboard (msi k7tpro), and on win9x is all ok, and the volume is 100% perfect with all apllications.... but not in DOS!!!! :-( Please help me, i don't want buy an other soundcard (if this is present is stupid), in this moment the old OS is very important for me!!!

Reply: (edit)If this is an actual CREATIVE LABS soundcard, many of the old ones have a jumper to enable/disable the onboard preamp. If you are using non-powered speakers, check to make sure that jumper is set to ENABLE. http://www.creativehelp.com/ click on SUPPORT Technical Specs Audio Products SB/SBPro Family If it is a Creative Labs product it should be listed there. There will be a model number on the card CT****

Reply: (edit)Hello, I found a solution to the problem for my mainboard (though it isn't an Epox MB). Epox has an additional DOS-Driver that amplifies the sound to normal level on my system. The URL is: http://www.epox.com/html/english/support/motherboard/Get.asp?Article=1185 I hope this solves some problems. Gamma
