I have a problem and two questions. Here's the problem. I am using Wengier's Super 7.1 boot CD to boot DOS on my Dell Inspiron laptop. I succeeded in doing so and in getting DOS to recognize my Maxtor external HD through USB 1.1. The only Super 7.1 option where this works is EMS386. The problem is that after executing only 1 or 2 commands involving the External HD, the external HD is no longer recognized. I get the message "Drive not ready", "Drive no longer valid" or "Invalid media". I have tested the external HD with other computers running Windows and I can read and write the drive with no problem. Do you have any ideas for troubleshooting this problem? I have already tried the Panasonic and Workit drivers and got not recognition of the drive whatsoever. The two questions are related to the problem. Question 1: What is the function of the DUSE program? If USBASPI.SYS is the driver for the USB port, why is it also necessary to install DUSE?
Question 2: When my system installs the Novac DI1000.SYS I get a message that says Drives available: #0. G: is then assigned as the drive letter and there is an message that it has a PRI FAT32 partition of 53500 MB which is less than the full 20GB capacity of the Maxtor external HD. When I try to access G: I get a message that that was an invalid disk volume change and I can't get to drive G: . Is my external drive getting two drive letters assigned to it?

You do not use DUSE and USBASPI together, either one or the other.... trie the version 2.15 panasonic usbaspi??

>... PRI FAT32 partition of 53500 MB which is less than the full 20GB capacity of the Maxtor external HD ...
Isn't 53500MB = 53.5GB > 20GB ? Could you mean 5350MB ?
