OS: Ms-Dos 6.22
CPU/Ram: ???
Model/Manufacturer: Toshiba Satellite 220CS
Comment:

Hi!

Trying to get USB on my Toshiba Satellite 220CS laptop with Ms-Dos 6.22 working!!!

I'm using the "Hairu drivers", with the files "Usbaspi.sys" & "Di1000dd.sys", and have only added the following lines to my config.sys:
device=Usbaspi.sys
device=Di1000dd.sys

The usb-memory I try to use (Sony MicroVault 128mb with additional MemoryStick Slot & a 16mb MemoryStick) is found as just a "Sony memory", but the computer hangs in the end with the following information:

Available ID=0
ID 0=HD .. sony Storage Media
#1 : ???
Divide Overflow

I've read the following in another topic here at Computing.net:

"Divide overflow often occurs when you try to access a hard drive larger than the operating system can accomodate."

But... How do I fix this so I can use the memory in Ms-Dos 6.22???

I find it very odd that 128mb is "larger than the operating system can accomodate"!!!

Any ideas or solutions???

BTW, if it's any use, I've got another computer with windows 98, that finds the usb-memory fine!!!

Perhaps this computer will be any help!!!

Try putting these lines as first two entriesin config.sys, then the USB device should be allocated resources prior to any memory configuration:

device=usbaspi.sys /v
device=di1000dd.sys

Also if you have an XP PC create an ms-dos boot floppy, as this one is based on 'WinME DOS' and add entries as above

Nope... the same problem!!! Also tried creating a windows 98 boot-floppy, and put the lines in the config.sys on this floppy, and boot with it on our "450mhz, 128mb ram tower-pc with windows 98" but I just got the same error!!!

The mata haira version is out of date, the Panasonic v2.20 is the last update I can find.

"USBASPI ASPI Manager for USB mass-storage Version 2.20 (C)Copyright Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd. 2000-2004"

If that fails then try the 'A P Soft - Point Enablers' linked on same page, demo available.

So I should use this "Usbaspi.sys" with the "Hairu di1000dd.sys" (for usb mass storage device)!?

Nope... I think the problem is in the di1000dd.sys , Is there any suitable replacement for this file???

Also, I can't read the usb memory any more because I formatted it on my Windows 98 Computer T_T!!!

How can I "re-format" it as an "older" ms-dos disk!?

Wow, I got it working now =D!!! I used an "Ubuntu Linux install cd" to re-partition it to fat16 and it worked!!!

The only problem now is that sometimes, when I change drive (just write d: for SmartMedia or e: for USB-Memory) the computer just hangs and the "pointer/command/whatever-the-dos-input-is-called" just goes black or like... disappears!!!

Sorry, I'm totally spamming!!!

But... I got it working with the "DAT.exe" driver, not directly from the boot-disk, but when I copied the "sys-file" to replace di1000dd.sys to the c:\drive and edited c:\config.sys!!!

No bugs, lags, hangings or something like that either =D!!!

Thanks for all help!!!
