I removed English Win 95 from an AST Ascentia A laptop and am trying to replace it with a Japenese version of Win 95 but keep getting the following error message. Windows setup requires 'largest executable program size' to be at least 451584 bytes to run. DO you have any ideas. The drive has been compressed using doublespace. I also get the message Invalid Command.com.

Hi; As far as I know you'll need to Fdisk, delete partitions, and make new ones(if you want). I had hard time installing W95 on compressed drive. Good luck

First misstake you used doublespace. You need to format your hard drive. First you have the command.com from the english verson you need the japenese ver. If you still have the english verson.Reinstall it.Then take the japenese ver.Put it in the cd-rom. open windows explorer.Close any folders that are open.Click on c:Now open your cd-rom drive.Find the command.com.Now drag and drop it to c:If the computer ask you do you want to replase with this one click yes. If this doesn't work.Reboot in dos mode. Go to cd-rom drive find command.com Go to c:xcopy d:or what ever your cd-rom drive >>>> xcopy d: command.com You should be able to install your program.
