unable to delete recursive folders

I posted a problem on the windows 9* forum regarding a problem I have deleting recursive folders (see http://computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/150303.html). None of the possible solutions offered works, and it has been suggested that someone on the DOS forum may have some ideas about deleting in DOS (I've tried booting to DOS and using DELTREE).

Here's a l-o-n-g shot solution. Use PKZIP in Dos to zip the directory and all sub directories and then delete the original. If (and it's a big if) it works then delete the .zip file.
