Turbo Button

What is the turbo button used for that is on the front of a pc?
It's a 'legacy' from the old days when a brand new 286 would be too fast to play your favourite old game. On means 'full speed' for the cpu, off would drop the cpu's speed down. Don't know why they're still around.

Turbo Button's were found upto the 486 and some early pentium computers. If you ask some DOS games players they will say they wish they still had them on the faster machines as speed can be a problem with some older DOS games.
