Why not do your own homework? Just do a search on the net and you'll find the answers you need. Start and www.google.com .

The trouble with Linux aside from the fact that it is different and has to be learned from scratch is that it will not run DOS or Windows applications. And DOS and Windows applications are most of what is on the market. When Linux is threaded to run Windows applications it will be a real alternative because it does not contain anti pirating software and is unbelievably stable as a result.

There really isn't much comparison... Whilst DOS has its uses, Linux is far more powerful. Check out Linux.org for a good explaination. Think of Linux more as an alternative to Windows 2k than to DOS in many ways.
