Stupid chang directory question

how can i do a CD to a directory name that has spaces in it////ie. c:\documents and settings

So do you mean like
C:\>CD "DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS"
That didnt do the trick.

If you'd be using Windows 2000's CMD yes. But using DOS it's the first 6 characters in the filename then ~1, so CD\DOCUME~1 would work.

if u type this
could get somehing like this
Document~1 or doc~1 etc............
type
cd document~1 ..... etc
