Comment: After installing a new hard drive in a 486dx I seem to be stuck. I installed 6.22 but do not have any windows floppys. I have a win95 cd rom and a cdrom from reveal with a driver that is mated to a reveal soundcard but no driver for the soundcard (or model number)and now am without an operating system on it. No big loss yet except I would like to have it back for what I use it for. Any suggestions ? Wayne

Reply: (edit)Side note I have a universal boot disk that has the Oakcdrom system but it cannot find a cdrom, perhaps because it is slaved to the soundcard.

Reply: (edit)If you have access to another computer that has a CD drive, and a null-modem serial cable or a parallel cable, you can run Laplink (I like LaplinkPro4), from a floppy, and suck the windows setup files into your machine through the cable.

Reply: (edit)Wayne, You say there is no model number on the Reveal soundcard-is that right? The site listed below is pretty informative about Reveal soundcards; http://www.windrivers.com/company/reveal/index.htm The CD-ROM drive must have a model number on it. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest pulling that CD-ROM drive out of the computer and look closely at all the markings on it. I am not 100% sure, but I am guessing that Reveal just had somebody else make CD-ROM drives for them and then they stuck their name on it-It may have another make and model number on it, if so search for the drivers for it. Good Luck

Reply: (edit)boot with a w98 floppy boot disk and it will give you access to your cd rom. then you can load the w95 from the disk you have. has worked on everything for me so far.
