Comment:
does anybody know how to remove the items "safe mode command prompt only" and "command prompt only" from the msdos 7.10 startup menu without using a menu in config.sys
i tried it by modifing io.sys with a hex editor, the items can be removed, but the numers in the menu remain

You should be looking at MSDOS.SYS (a text file), not IO.SYS

Resist the temptation to close your request for help with semantically-null questions like “Can anyone help me?”

I've only played with that a little - kind of cumbersome (imo) but I would think (just like the Windows version it's ripped from) that feature is controlled by the line:

[Options]

BootMenu=0

... in MSDOS.SYS

Give it a try

Yeah, well - official release or not, I don't know what else you can readily call it other than DOS (Windowless Win9x?).

While I do agree that Windows posts are better fielded in the appropriate Windows forums, let's not be exclusive to the point of absurdity. While this 'release' or package has always been something of a grey area legally, I don't believe it's going to disappear, and questions regarding its use are appropriate here (where else?) - unless Justin declares otherwise.

afaik, that hasn't happened
