I have a 486 (amd 100 Mhz) and 8 mb ram. I am using Windows 95 and i want to use my sound card in dos mode (ms-dos prompt only, without using win95).What can i do???

add the .sys files for the sound card to the config.sys, and then add the "set blaster" and other commands that would normally be put in the autoexec.bat file to a new file in the windows directory called dosstart.bat. Whenever you restart in dos mode, it will load the settings in dosstart.bat

You should check on the Creative Labs site. I have a feeling that there are no real DOS drivers for the PCI 128.

See what you get.

creative labs do not have any drivers for the soundblaster pci128 under dos. in the installation cd are some programs in a dosdrv directory. i installed them but when i execute the sbinit.com file in dos mode i have the message"installation complete" but the system stuck when i execute an oher program!!! i think that this file is the solution but it can not be executed!!!Can any one help me???

I've had a similar problem with SBINIT and a SBPCI128. Initially SBINIT wouldn't run until I updated my 6 month old BIOS and drivers for the VIA components on my motherboard.
Now I receive an error from my memory manager (QEMM 8.03)when I run SBINIT.COM. Seems SBINIT doesn't get along too well with QEMM. May not be your problem, but it's possible that SBINIT is accessing some memory address that's being used by another program/DOS.
I tried using HIMEM and EMM386 and SBINIT seemed to complete properly.
