I can't get sound in dos, and I was wondering if there are dos drivers for something called "Crystal WDM Audio Codec" or "MPU-401 compatible", because that is what it says I have in the control panel in windows. I need some help here. Thank you in advance.

Have you set the BLASTER environment variable properly? Settings for each sound card are different; you'll need to note port address, IRQ, DMA channel, and type, probably from Windoze control panel. Something like SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T4 or SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4 should work if your sound card isn't a screwball.

The drivers load in the batch files and sysconfg files correct or do you have to alter your batch files to get the drivers to work as well ? Im sick of being stuck in the windows trap and would really like to learn more about my pc. If anyone could be of further assistance I'd greatly appreciate it. I've purchased a book rather outdated for the current version of dos that is packaged with Win ME version. 6.22 is the book I have and some of the commands will not execute as the book details.
Summary: Ok, I am trying to get my old computer working so that i can play old dos games. The sound card is a "SoundPlus -- ES488+" or an "ES488", but I don't think this matters as far as drivers go. It has ...
