Sound Blaster 16 PCI in MS-DOS 7.10

I am trying to use the Sound Blaster 16 PCI under DOS, but I'm having issues. I load HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.exe in my CONFIG.SYS, and then I enter SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T7 P330 and then run SBLOAD.EXE, and SBINIT.exe. When I run SBTEST.EXE, I hear a loud, repetitive screech until the test ends, but when it tries to play MIDI music, I can hear a piano over the noise. What is happening? Also, I assume those settings are correct for the card, but I don't know how to detect the correct settings for the BLASTER environment variable.
Summary: I'm looking for a Sound card that is PCI and will be compatible with DOS 6.22/Win 3.1. I hear that PCI runs better than ISA, so I would like to go with PCI as well as for other OS capability like for ...
