I don't know much about dos, but my computer won't shutdown and we've tried just about everything else, so does anyone know how to do it through dos? I just want a dos shutdown command. Any help would be great--thanks!
However if you have a PC with Power Saving Feature, You may need to hold the Power Switch in for a few seconds!

DOS does not have shut down commands. You either use a switch or it stays on.

Hi,
Actually DOS not have shut down command. But if you use Smartdrv.exe driver for disk caching and you have write-cash enabled it's safer to use Smartdrv /C command before turning off to write the information currently in write-cache to hard disk. Actually you can achive the same effect if you just wait for a few minutes before turning off your computer.
Good luck, Igor

DOS by its self does not have a shutdown command, but I have run across ATX notebooks/systems, the ones that shut them selves off, that do have a shutdown command. Most of them are from the manufacture of the computer, and all of the ones that I have messed w/ were specific to the computer. I have yet to find one that is completly portable. If you do find one that is portable, please let me know where to get it.
