If you're running DOS 6.2x you've already got the software:

intersvr.exe
interlnk.exe

You can use a (serial) 'null-modem' cable or a 'parallel file transfer' cable (LPT=faster)

If not, I 've heard laplink is good.

Take a look a PowerLoads File Transfer page at:

http:www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk

he not only provides LapLink but FastLynx as well, not much between then, its all down to what you like.

One thing that needs to be said is that you can spend millions of dollars on a software transfer program, but if you don't have a null modem cable then you're not going to be able to transfer any amount of files. So save yourself the frustration and buy a null modem serial or parallel cable (commonly called a lap link cable) before you even think about transfering files with one of these programs. Go to the powerload page mentioned above and read about null modem cables.

Hope that helps,
-Michael

Yes, I agree with Michael. It would certainly be very frustrating trying to transfer files with no cable! That reminds me of the time I tried booting my computer with no hard disk. Oh, and the time I tried typing a manuscript with no keyboard! Ahhhh, that was frustrating!

Even worse, once I went down to the local Softmart and tried buying some great software! Yikes, everything required Windows 95 for Chimpanzees, and all I had was DOS! Now that was the peak of my frustration!

While I do appreciate the humor of your smart ass comments, I was trying to relay the fact that you can not use a normal serial or parallel cable to transfers files from PC to PC. I am sorry you weren't intelligent enough to pick up on that. Go be smart ass some place else. We don't need or want you here.

Sorry, Michael. Not meant to be offensive. And you have a good point, although I've used null modem with normal serial cable. Anyway, other than the typing-manuscript-no-keyboard part, all of my statements were true.
