I know you can send messages to others on a network using net send. I want to write a batch file that simply displays a dialog message on my computer when run. Is there any command that works like net send but instead displays a message just on your computer?

Lee,
Depending on what kind of dialog message you want run, you may not have to write a batch file. You could just type a message in wordpad, notepad, or MSWord, save the file, copy or move it to the start folder from the start button. Then everytime the comp is booted the message will pop up.

Also have a look at:

WinGreeting is a simple program that will pop-up a message on windows startup. The message can be changed, along with the font and color of the text. The settings can be password protected so that the average user cannot change them.
Which is a true customisable Message-Box.
The Install routine is BRAIN-DEAD! DO NOT USE IT! - Make your own Folder and just copy it into place. Make your own shortcut Link, and copy THAT to - your startup Group, Desktop or whatever. I even have a second Shortcut which has the IE Icon, and when clicked, the Message tells the User to look for Opera instead of IE! - I've got a bent sense of humour!Baldy.
