Will, you can only just about get it to work under Windows 3.1

I hope someone does correct me, but I think getting it to work under DOS is a little bit to far.

I could live without the wheel, if I just can use the buttons would be fine. DOS could just ignore the wheel?!?

Is this an optical or mechanical (ball) mouse
If it's a 'ball-mouse' you might be able to use the middle button, although you'd likely have to specify this with the appropriate command line parameter when loading the DOS driver. Check your driver docs, or try a 3-button DOS driver (worth a shot)
A vague disclaimer is nobody's friend.

Yes jboy is right. Basic 3 button mice existed for DOS. But what the extra button could do I cannot remember... and if you ignore the wheel, you may be able to get it to work with the right driver.
Have a look at cutemouse @

True - most standard applications didn't know what to do with the middle button.
In first person shooters (FPS) though, like Duke3D or DooM, typically you'd set the middle button as 'move forward' - or some other function.
A vague disclaimer is nobody's friend.

MPXPlay 1.50 and such will work with the wheel if the right driver (CuteMouse 2.0) is loaded anyway.

Long Live DOS!
