scrolling up in dos prompt!?

How the heck do you scroll up when you are in the MS DOS prompt??

The closest you can come to scrolling is to add /p after a command or |more.

example

dir /p
or
dir |more

| is the symbol on the same key as the backslash.

Try PERUSE,then you are able to scroll up in DOS prompt easily.

Search "scrollback buffer". You should find a number of TSRs that can provide this for you... most of them use the Scroll Lock key, which used to be for the scrollback buffer back when systems had this built into the BIOS.

do what clem says and type dir /p
this way you can push a key when you want to continue scrolling
