Reply: (edit)Does this occur when you boot to DOS, or only when you open a DOS 'window'? I renounce Bill Gates and all His Works

Reply: (edit)If it's happening before your Operating System even loads, one would suspect a hardware problem (video card). You're saying that Windows itself displays correctly? You couldn't get a clue during clue-mating season in a field full of horny clues if you smeared your body with clue musk and did the clue mating dan

Reply: (edit)Usually it's the other way around. DOS (or the POST screen) doesn't require drivers - if it's not displaying correctly then the problem would be in the graphics card or monitor. The Windows GUI is much more demanding, requires numerous drivers for high res, not to mention DirectX - it seems very strange that it would be fine but not the more basic screens. Couple of Windows testers here. Can't rule out a problem with the signal cord itself, I suppose. Your work is both true and original. Unfortunately, the parts that are true are not original, and the parts that are original are not true.

Reply: (edit)Your monitor may be similar to my toshiba, on mine there is a switch on front, you set the monitor up on it for windows then you run a dos session , move the switch over and set it up for dos, its a way over the problem of older monitors shifting the display in dos you may just need to set it up for windows then set it up for dos also. I see it a lot at work when i`m imaging a system and the display is ok but when rebooting into windows its shifted over or it can happen the other way aroiund depending on how the factory set the monitor up in the 1st place. most FST`s we get thru at work have a button to press that automatically sets it up for windows , then you need to do it again for the dos, then back again when you go to windows. Yours does sound a bit extreme tho my monitor was similar till i worked out what the switch was for ( i bought it used with no manual) HTH

Reply: (edit)My Proview Flat Screen 17" LCD is like that as well. OK at statup but whenever I start a DOS session I have to press the Auto Adjust button. But when I exit to Windows it sorts itself out! PowerLoad Home Page Please reply with a message to let us all know we are on the right track with you

Reply: (edit)There are two modes of operation. The monitor goes into `Text' mode for Dos and switches to `Graphics' mode for windows. There seems to be a hardware problem with the `Text' mode.
