Hi,
Could You please solve my problem. I don't know what else to do I get this error every time I try to get to install Windows 95c. Scandisk works fine till it gets to the directory structure part of the test. Thanks

Reformat your harddrive, I'd install a version of DOS if you can first and check to see if its your harddrive thats physically damaged by running scandisk after installing DOS...
well I suppose you could go windows95 straight away... and let scandisk do the work...
it should fix it..
unless its physical, thats as far as I can tell

If scandisk finds a data error while reading the file allocation tables then it treats this as a critical error and will exit.
It sounds like the data error is due to physical damage on the disc.
As far as I know DOS expects the following areas of the partition to be error free:
The boot sector
the file allocation tables
the root directory.
Something you might try is to make the partition you are having problems in non-bootable, and then make another partition bootable. This might jump around the damaged area of the disc.
Scandisk cannot repair this type of error nor will it attempt to.

There are options for setup.exe that allow you to turn off the scandisk checking...
so long as one of your fats is still correct there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

It is true that one good FAT table might be enough, trouble is scandisk might not be able to tell a good table from a damaged one, unless the table has a CRC error.
