I'm running a Soundblaster 4.1 Digital (SB PCI 128). On my 1st PC with W98, it works fine. On my 2nd with MS-DOS, nothing. I downloaded a driver from Creative Labs, but it didn't work because the I/O address of the card is "not" 220H, 240H, 260H, and/or 280H (don't really know what/which address it uses). Just want to have some sound with my older DOS games (DOOM etc.)

Can anyone help?

Thanx!

Well you need to know the IRQ, hex address etc. for DooM setup - I'm unfamiliar with that card, but possibly the settings are controlled by jumpers? Otherwise there might be a DOS configuration utility.

Generally, most DOS games require the 'SET BLASTER= ' variable to be specified.

Syschk might help you determine your settings.

Not too sure, but you may have better luck using one of the many excellent Source Ports (for DooM at least). Most of them use the Allegro sound configuration utility and might accommodate non standard settings - some of the older games were fairly limited in what they would accept.

Fusion is one of the best for DOS.

The danger lies not in the machine itself but in the user's failure to envision the full consequences of the instructions he gives to it.
