After accessing FWR & PCMCIA external HDDs with Ghost and Gdisk o.k from an A:\ MS-Dos boot floppy; then trying to run a DOS program (dsksanit.exe) with the FWR,=> "runtime error 203 at 0000:6334" and with the PCMCIA,=> "runtime error 203 at 0000:4ZDA"... But when the FWR or PCMCIA are not plugged in, the DOS program (dsksanit)works just fine on the internal HDDs..
This error can happen when one of our DOS programs needs more memory than is available. Try a hard boot. If a hard boot does not solve it, make more memory available by closing memory resident (also known as TSR) programs. At the DOS prompt, type "mem" (without the quotes) then press the enter key. The :largest executable program size should be about 580k. This the amount of "conventional" memory needed."
I use aspi1394.sys in config.sys for the FWR IoGear external HDD, and apSoft's UNATA with memory switch /M:0xD4000 for Apricorn's EZ-GIG PCMCIA card external HDD.. I am trying to use Apricorn's EZ-USB 2.0 cardbus and the USB IoGear external HDD (which works o.k in Win2K).. I use PowerQuest's DriveCopy in Win2k to backup internal C:\ drive1 to external E:\ drive3, and then A:\ boot DOS Ghost -clone external drive3 to a corrupt internal drive1.. I have tried apSoft's USBENAB with no luck on this arrangement.. The "Mem" command in Win2k shows 596K available... I do believe memory is the problem with the dsksanit program, but can it be solved ??? Thanks for the information....
