I unfortunately do not have a lot of system information about my co-workers home computer...however, she was trying to locate a file in windows when her computer froze. She did a cold boot and the computer only booted into MSDOS - it would not load window 98. She doesn't know very much about the computer but found the MacAfee Rescue Boot disk that her husband had made. Restarted her computer with this disk in the floppy drive and it began scanning the harddrive. It was taking a long time and she didn't think it was working so she did a cold boot in the middle of the process. Now she can not get her computer to read from the floppy drive it keeps prompting her to insert system disk and press any key. This loop continues even after a cold boot....Any suggestions???

Will the machine boot from a different boot-floppy? If so, perhaps the MacAfee disk became corrupted (if it was being written to at the time of the reboot). It may be possible to sys the floppy in a different computer, to make it bootable again. But before doing that, try to determine if your floppy drive still works. If a virus gets into the cmos, for example, the floppy drive probably won't work. Does the machine beep more than once when it is started? Please send more details.

Get a boot disk and run scandisk. If the floppy drive does not work go into the BIOS and make sure drive A: has 1.44 selected. If this does not solve the problem post some more details.
