when i bought a Dell optiplex GS three weeks ago, i had to format drive because i haven't the Windows NT code. I install windows 98 but a lot of drives don't work and CDROM didn't run. I uninstall windows and i try to clear the bios. I sucedeed installing a new BIOS but the CDROM are not recognize. I think to reinstall a new MSDOS. Sorry for my english, i'm french!

Windows 98 doesn't need a separate DOS installation. It sounds like you need to get a 98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, so it contains the generic CDROM drivers allowing you access to the Windows CD.
Also to get the CD drive recognised in BIOS, you need to set that connection to Auto, so BIOS will detect it when the computer starts, and pick up the ID tag from the device.
